Respect: A Remnant of the Past?

We are very excited to announce that the world-renowned parenting and teaching expert Rabbi Dov Brezak is coming to town from Israel next Sunday and Monday, February 5th and 6th. He will be leading an interactive workshop titled “Respect, A Remnant of the Past? Effective Strategies for teaching children respect in our turbulent times” at Torah Day School at 8:00 PM on Sunday, night. The cost is $10 a person or $15 a couple.

Charming, charismatic, and extremely popular, Rabbi Zakon delivers many weekly classes including on relationships and character development. He is also a frequent guest lecturer for community organizations. A native of New York who received his ordination from Beth Medrash Govoha Rabbinical Seminary in 1998, Rabbi Zakon enjoys biking, good books, and good conversation. He and his wife Devorah, who received her M.A. in speech pathology from Brooklyn College in 1996, joined the ranks of DATA in August 2000. They have four children, Miriam, Yaakov, Shifra and Nechuma.

Guest Speaker: David Sacks

David was born and raised in New York City. He attended Harvard College, graduating with a degree in Government. While there he began his comedy writing career as an editor of the school’s humor magazine, The Harvard Lampoon. Upon graduating, David moved to Los Angeles and began writing for television. Among the shows he’s worked for are “The Simpsons”, where he won an Emmy Award, and “Third Rock from the Sun” for which he won a Golden Globe Award and “Malcolm in the Middle”.

Now that we’ve completed the book of Genesis in our popular “Breakneck Through Genesis” series, we’re going to continue learning the next book in the Torah, Exodus!  Come join us as we begin our exploration of the book that recounts such critical events in our national history as the enslavement of the Jews in Egypt, their redemption from bondage, the giving of the Ten Commandments at Mount Sinai, and more! Join us for Breakneck through Exodus, a 25-week series.

The first four classes will be held on:

August 31 and September 7, 14, 21

Don’t worry if you missed Breakneck through Genesis. These first four classes will be a CRASH COURSE OF GENESIS and can serve as an overview or a review for those who learned Genesis with us. Bring along your friends!
